About The IU Foundation

The Indiana University Foundation is a not-for-profit corporation dedicated to maximizing private resources for Indiana University. Chartered in 1936, the IU Foundation partners with IU to raise nearly $150 million annually in contributions for IU from more than 110,000 donors. Donors include individuals, corporations, foundations, and other organizations. The IU Foundation manages the endowment  that, as of June 30, 2008, was valued in excess of $1.5 billion; administers more than 5,000 gift accounts; and provides related fundraising services to IU and to donors. IU consistently ranks in the nation's Top 20, or top 2 percent of universities' Total Voluntary Support, the sum of gifts and nongovernmental research grants received from the private sector. Among public universities, Indiana University ranks 15th in the nation in market value of the endowment.

The IU Foundation has offices in Bloomington, Indianapolis, and Chicago.

The 50-year-old Student Foundation on the Bloomington campus and the newer IUPUI Student Foundation on the IUPUI campus in Indianapolis are a part of the IU Foundation. They involve more than 500 members and approximately 4,000 student event participants each year in activities that develop leadership skills and an understanding of and commitment to philanthropy and service. The IU Student Foundation has served as a model for student organizations at numerous other universities.
